Welcome to my blog! Today, I’ll guide you through the simple process of activating your Hong Leong Bank (HLB) debit card online in Malaysia. This convenient feature allows you to use your debit card for various transactions, including overseas purchases, auto-debit payments, and online shopping. You can also customize your transaction limits and preferences for added security. Here are the steps to get started:
Step 1: Log in to HLB Connect
Begin by accessing HLB Connect, the online banking and mobile banking app provided by Hong Leong Bank. You can use a computer or a smartphone to log in. To access your account, you’ll need your username and password. If you haven’t registered for HLB Connect yet, you can do so online at www.hlb.com.my.
Step 2: Navigate to Debit/Credit Card Services
Once you’re logged in, you’ll find a dashboard with various options. Click on “Pay & Transact” and then select “Debit/Credit Card Services.” This will take you to a page where you can manage your debit and credit cards.
Step 3: Choose Your Debit Card
On the Debit/Credit Card Services page, you’ll see a list of your cards. Locate and click on the specific debit card that you want to activate online. This will display detailed information about your card, including the card number, expiry date, status, and available balance.
Step 4: Enable Online Transactions
To activate your debit card for online use, you need to enable three types of transactions: Overseas Transactions, Auto Debit, and Internet Purchase (non-3D secure transactions). These options are initially disabled as a security precaution in compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia’s regulations. To activate them, click the toggle buttons next to each option. You’ll be prompted to confirm your selection and enter a one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number.
Step 5: Set Your Transaction Limits
Once you’ve enabled online transactions, you can further customize your debit card by setting your preferred transaction limits. You can specify the maximum amounts for each transaction type and establish cumulative limits for contactless transactions.
Additionally, you have the flexibility to adjust the default contactless transaction limit, which is initially set at RM250, to any amount ranging from RM0 to RM800. To configure these settings, click the “Change Limit” button next to each option and input your desired amounts. You’ll be required to enter another OTP to confirm your changes.
That’s it! You’ve successfully activated your HLB debit card online in Malaysia. You can now use your card for cashless transactions worldwide, including overseas purchases, auto-debit payments, and online shopping. Plus, you can receive transaction notifications through the HLB Connect App or SMS alerts for any successful transactions equal to or exceeding RM200.
