upanMelaka Historic City Council (MBMB) was established in 2003 and is responsible for the administration and development of the Melaka city. It was formed from the merger of the Melaka Municipality Area and the Historical Melaka City Municipal Council.
MBMB is focused on developing the agriculture, industry, and tourism sectors in the city. It has also attracted investors and created job opportunities through its infrastructural growth. In 2010, another local authority, Majlis Perbandaran Hang Tuah Jaya (MPHTJ), was established within the MBMB administration area. MBMB’s current administration area is approximately 30.86 sq km.
